VHF DSC Radio Simulator. The most important facilities on a DSC radio are Urgency and Distress alerts. Ironically these are the very functions which it is not possible to practice on real equipment. However you can have realistic hands-on practice of all the radio functions in total safety with this Simulator. Radar Plotting Tutorial. If you have radar fitted to your vessel you are obliged to use it for watch-keeping and to have a competent trained operator. Gaining this competence takes training and a lot of practice. The most difficult part of interpreting a radar display is the effect of relative motion - the movement of your own vessel combines with the true movement of each contact - leaving you to figure out what the contact is really doing.
